Do your studying by yourself.

Please don't ask others to do your school work for you, you will never learn anything if others do your studying for you.

"c)the x-intercept"

Warning! There may be 0, 1 or two of these. Go look it up.

Please go through your study material or notes and mark all the definitions, key formula and procedures with a wonder marker and index it with tags.

Whenever you need to do homework or prepare for a test look there first.

Your one of the younger internet generation, why don't you try finding the answer for yourself using google or Wikipedia if you don't want to look in your maths book (you found this engineering discussion site after all).

i can't solve these question. can i help me?

The answer is yes, you can help yourself. Let the learning experience begin!

Get some graph paper, write a couple of equations, plot 'em on the graph paper and marvel at the funky curves...

That is the fun part, experiment!

The usual quote is "Don't try this at home" but regarding homework it should read "Please try this at home (Not on CR4)"

Doesn't your calculator have some sort of "help" function that will explain what these arcane terms mean? ffej

If there wasn't so much appalling teaching around, I would take the same line as the other respondents. However, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. If this helps, spread it around your classmates.

First, if you want to succeed at maths, forget about following rules other than the following: make sure you understand the 'why' of everything.

For this case that means you must put your calculator away until you have drawn a few graphs of quadratics for yourself, and looked to see what is going on. All you then need to know is that:
the "axis symmetry" is the (vertical) line that defines where you would place a mirror in order for each side to be the reflection of the other;
an "intercept" is a point where lines or curves cross each other - for a conventionally-written quadratic [y=function(x)] there will always be exactly one y-intercept, and there will be between 0 and 2 x-intercepts.
"vertex" here is a misuse of the term - it is used to specify the highest or the lowest point on the curve (there will be exactly one of these).

there are tons of knowledge about basic maths on WEB

For example mathematica site can help you:

http://mathworld.wolfram.com/search/?query=quadratic+equations&x=0&y=0

or wikipedia:

Have you considered the alternative of becoming a history major? Where were you when this was explained in class? Do you have the textbook?
