passenger counter

03/11/2008 3:29 PM

Hi

I am a South African. I am interested in a passenger counting device capable of providing the following info- time, date, direction in/out, number of people.

The info should be transferable to a PC using eg a memory stick. Software capable of

processing data should indicate the number of people who boarded & alighted the vehicle, the time & date of each occurrence.

Kind Regards

Captin

Hi Captin

I would imagine it is for use in a mini-bus Taxi.

My first idea was a PIR or beam and a counter time based recorder, but this will miss out on passengers getting in at the same time. And one would not know if the passenger is getting in or out.

The other method might be to have a CCTV camera installed and have it recording while the door is open. It will mean that you have to do the counting and reconciling at night. But the presence of the camera may already solve your problem.

High school project!

1. Install an indexer to the door/s.

2. Poll the indexer's output.

3. Increment, save.

Think this is just a machine problem for Grade 10 students.

its very simple for people enter one by one.

What do you do if the people catch one door of bus or building at jam traffic?

2# give a way, that is use machine version. then use statistic principle to work out the number.

Camera would install higher than person and has an angle of less than 30degree (verical direction0. I think

Can the driver/conductor's fare-and-ticket-issuing-machine not be used/adapted for the purpose?
