Conversion of Voltage of Frequency

I want to convert 415V, 50HZ, 3Phase supply to 460V, 60HZ, 3Phase Supply. The approximate load is 2500KVA. What is the method?

Inverter + step-up transformer, though note that the higher voltage is only 11% of the incoming. Check the tolerable voltage of the load equipment and it may be that a transformer is unneccessary.

The cheapest present method is a motor/alternator combination, which is able to cope with transients better than some large electronic frequency converters.

The best method will be to use a MG set by using a motor to run from 60HZ supply and take an output from the coupled generator of 415V50Hz.This will give a cleaner supply as compared to a static system of rectifying and inverting.

That's a lot of power to convert en-masse like that. I would evaluate each and every load on the 480V side to see if it really needs conversion. For instance, motors may or may not need conversion if you can live with the slower speed. I mention motors because you mention 460V, which is a motor utilization voltage, not a distribution voltage. 480V is the typical distribution voltage.

So that said, if you have some motor loads which will not run well at the slower speed, consider putting step-up transformers and VFDs on just those motors, even if you don't need to vary the speed.

Other loads, such as lighting, heating elements etc., or anything with a Switch Mode Power Supply (such as computers, consumer electronics etc.) will not care about frequency and may not care about voltage within 10% of nominal rating.

That's a huge load to try and convert this way. Is your 460V load tolerant of running on 50Hz, if yes then you can just use a large transformer (about half the size of a 20 foot shipping container), if no then you really are left with a motor generator arrangement (say about the size of three or four 40 foot shipping containers).

This isn't a small or cheap project. Have you got your figures right? What's the actual application and load?
