dear sirs,

I asked this question few days ago, but nobody answered/ commented. I am looking for some input/ references/links/ websites about civil engineers role and work in mining projects. any comment please?

Have you tried any search engines such as google? If no one answered the first time it may have been because your question was too broad.

At least give a clue about the type of mine.

The civil works in an open cast coal mine will differ drastically from that of a 5km deep gold mine.

I worked in a lead/silver mine in northern Canada in 1950. We had a number of mining engineers, but the only civil engineer I can recall was doing survey work.

There could be scope for a civil engineer in a mine, but as stated by others, it would depend on the type of mine and its stage of development. The experience would likely be quite varied, responding to particular needs of the day.

So far as advancement in a mining company is concerned, anything is possible but it doesn't strike me as a particularly good prospect for a civil engineer.

Seems interesting, can you please refer our geological mapping service to few of your known sources, coz we are geological mapping specialist.

Hope you don't mind on this.

Any mine would have scope for Civil Engineers, whether it is open cast, deep mine or whatever. Surface infrastructure such as workshops, Office buildings, water supply would all fall under Civil Engineering and has to be catered for. In South Africa the large Mining Companies such as Anglo America etc have a separate Civil Engineering Division which handles all these functions

I hope this answers some of your questions

regards

Peter

civil engineering is a vast covering word and mining project word is also same, hence i suggest a common thing for both.now a days iron and cement both are much important for civil engineering and real estate business.if any one desires to enter in both inorganic minerals and mining chemistry so he should first occupy the prime source means to occupy the rich mineral bearing lands like limestone and bauxite deposit land for cement manufacturing and haemetite and magnetite iron mineral bearing land for producing the pig iron and steel.we know the small capacity plant erection for both .you produce and provide both for the civil engineering purpose and for the workers and general people you can built real estate luxurious housings.

we are having mineral bearing lands for sale both producing iron and cement and a location to start a civil engineering project.

we are having engineers to erect small plants to produce cement and iron-steel for your required project and real estate business for the world.o.k.so answer completes

with your civil and mining project aim and object both please. thanks

The basic role of a civil engineer is construction. In mines also, a lot of construction work goes on and civil engineers are made responsible for that like construction of township, construction of roads in and around the mine, water supply projects, some civil construction works inside the mines also like barricades, walls, offices, drainage etc. The nagnitude of the work depends on the size of the mining project. The role of civil engineer not finishes after completion of the construction of these structure but remain there of maintenance of these.

Most mining companies use Civil Engineers for many job functions.

In open-pit and/or underground-shaft mining, Civil Engineers are required for designing, planning, and implementing (controlling) the location, depth, and size of excavation(s), buildings, and other structures.

Civils also provide critical, accurate plots for determining location, size, and types of ore bodies to management for future use and budgeting forecasts.

They are used very often to align equipment such as overland conveyors so as to prevent mechanical damage from occurring due to misalignment.

These are but a few of their assigned duties.

I am only speaking for myself. I don't represent anyone else on this website.

First of all, you didn't bother to register or sign in under a real name/handle, but are hiding behind the 'guest' account.

Second, this is a VOLUNTEER website. Everyone here is interested in engineering and we like to help our members - to the utmost.

Third, I don't like your tone. We do not work for you - or, at least, you don't pay us. We are not an employment agency, and we don't have to suffer your laziness or you ill humor.

If you want our help I suggest you give us the respect we deserve, some of us have been in the engineering field for 30 years and more.

Clean up your act, Sir!

THERE ARE LOT OF WORK FOR CIVIL ENGINEERING IN MINERAL AND MINING TRADE-- FEW ARE AS UNDER;

1. WHEN MINERAL AND ORE ARE REQUIRED TO UP GRADE THE RAW MINE- MINERAL/ORE OR YOU CAN SAY WHEN MINERAL OR ORE DRESSING IS REQUIRED TO UPGRADE THEIR PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES ACCORDING TO ACTUAL USERS REQUIREMENT, CIVIL ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION STARTS FROM THE SOURCE OR NEARER TO MINE SITES.FOR EXAMPLE WASHING AND SETTLING TANKS ARE REQUIRED TO BUILT FIRST TO REMOVE THE IMPURITIES LIKE CLAY AND OTHERS.

2.SOME MACHINERIES ARE REQUIRED HEAVY CONCRETE FOUNDATION AND SURROUNDING WALLS IN BENEFICIATION/BENEFICATION PLANTS REQUIRED FOR RAW MINERAL/ORE UP GRADATION/DRESSINGS.

3.TUNNELS ,WATER PREVENTION ,ROOFINGS ,ARE MADE FOR UNDER GROUND MINES

HENCE OPEN CAST MINES AND UNDER GROUND MINES OR DIFFERENT NATURE OF RAW MINERAL/ORE DEPOSIT IN MINE NEEDS DIFFERENT TYPE OF CIVIL ENGINEERING WORK.MINERALS/ORES ARE FOUND IN NATURE IN LUMPS.FINES,DUST FORMS, ALL NEEDS UP GRADATION HENCE GOOD SCOPE OF CIVIL ENGINEERING.

4.TEMPORARY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION IS ALSO REQUIRED FOR WORKERS.MACHINE OPERATORS NEARER TO MINE SITE.HENCE MINE OWNERS NEEDS CIVIL CONTRACTORS ALWAYS DURING RAISING OR EXPLORATION OF THEIR MINERALS.RECLAMATION IS ALSO REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN MINERALS WHERE CIVIL ENGINEERING IS REQUIRED.

RESPECT SHOULD ALWAYS BE GIVEN TO ALL LIVING AND NON LIVING ERA,MEN AND ANIMALS.EVERY ONE NEEDS RESPECTS.HENCE GIVE RESPECT GET RESPECT.I AM SHAIENDRA SHUKLA ENJOYING CR4 KNOWLEDGE.

Dont forget permitting, regulatory monitoring and compliance. Many State Agencies in the Western US want either a Civil Engineer to stamp submittals (or sometimes a geologist stamp also is acceptable), and anything with designs usually only accepts a Civil Engineers stamp.

There are lots of work in the mining projects for civil engineers, a few to mention in design/construction- crew housing/baracks, mining structure (tunneling or open pit), ore processing structures, roads, surveying, drafting, building maintenance etc..etc...

Hope this helps.

Dont forget all the regulatory permitting, much of it requires a CE stamp.
