Just in time for (U.S.) Independence Day

Here is the old chestnut--To celebrate Independence Day I shoot my 2nd Amendment-protected firearm into the air--at a muzzle velocity of 2000fps and shooting straight up, how long will it take a 175-grain bullet to return to the ground [assuming it doesn't strike anything] and will it strike the ground with the same velocity at which it left the gun-barrel?
