DVD stuck in a philips home theater sound system

I suppose you have tried the small hole in the front.

The cause may be that the CD was not properly seated and is now wedging against the top.

The best would be to take the drive out of the box, and remove the face. look for clips centre bottom and sides. You could also remove the shell - loosen the screws on the bottom.

yes the little pin hole has a swtich in it that activates an eject sequence independant of the main CPU and other electronics. Alternatively you can turn the machine off at the wall; most units spit the cd/dvd out on start up. if it is the type of unit with a CD tray you can try gently pulling out the tray with plastic tweezers, that motion often will inititate an eject sequence as well. Be careful not to electrocute yourself. Otherwise we will have to move your post to the frazzled forum!

Do not attempt the removal of the shell of the unit, unless you are very familiar with tools, and know how to use them properly.

Whatever you do, firing crossbow bolts at it repeatedly, as Del the Cat did, is not recommended and will definitely void your warranty. It did get the tape out but afterward . . . well that's another story. We decided then to try using a catapult and go for distance.

First - is your home theater under any sort of warranty - did you purchase the unit with an Amex card? That usually stretches the warranty period.

Next - can you find a pinhole on the front panel? Look at the C/D-DVD drive on your computer. On one of my units the pinhole is above and to the left of the <open door> button. On my second drive the pinhole is to the far left and toward the bottom. If you can find a pinhole on your unit, TURN OFF THE POWER, undo a paper clip and push it into the pinhole until the tray slides out.

Finally - if there are no pinholes in your unit, call the manufacturer and find a licensed repair-person because, short of destroying the unit to get the C/D-DVD out that is all you will accomplish by trying to take the unit apart yourself.

And, if all else fails, Del can conduct one of his "special interrogations" of the unit. It will spit out CD's you never even put in it then! (And it will ENJOY it...)
