LCD TV and Diagonal Waves

08/21/2008 8:40 AM

We have a 1 year old Sony Bravia LCD TV. It is hooked to Direct TV and an XBox.

Recently when watching ANY station on TV, we are getting diagonal waves running through the picture. We have disconnected and reconnected all wires. Gaming and DVD's run without any problem or waves.

Any Ideas? is this a signal issue? All of our other TV's are fine.

Check the antenna alignment and connections.

Yes, I agree with the antenna alignment and connections. It could also be a kink or partial break in your antenna cable (somewhere other than the connector).

I once solved the same problem for a neighbor when I showed him that his cable had taken a pretty severe hit during a storm. The cable had been compressed at one point and was probably partially open. The cable guy later confirmed that.

There are a couple of possibilities..One- you could have coax breaking down through a crimped spot or a nick through the outer jacket allowing water to enter in the braiding and to ground out the signal somewhat...If water enters in through cables or connections, its only a matter of time before signal degradation starts to begin. Check closely on the coax and connections from the dish to the tv......All of them..inside every connector too.....When in doubt.....change it out....Let me know what you find

which input is the sat reciever connected to or is it connected to the tuner(channel 3)

if connected to tuner input change it to one of your other inputs by using rca cables instead of co-ax as this hook up will by pass the tuner. if your sat reciever has an s vidio output that is will give the best pix if it is a hi def reciever then you should be using the hdmi or the dvi output for best pix. you may have a bad tuner in your sony the difrent hook up methods are a good work around for a bad tuner if you do prove the tuner as the cause check your warranty you may covered.
