Another Picture Challenge

10/13/2008 10:56 PM

We haven't had a picture challenge in a while. I used my cell phone camera to take the pics, so I admit the quality could be better.

This is an item I hope you never have to use, for yourself or for anyone else.

Happy guessing!

You could probably turn it into one, but it wouldn't be all that harmful, unless you threw in the right place.

Let's try a different direction......think pharmaceuticals... how about a pill splitter and pill crusher combination?

"This is an item I hope you never have to use, for yourself or for anyone else ..."

This has to be a big clue. It suggests (to me) that these things aren't too common (supported by the fact that no-one here has yet recognised it). The tooling to make this must've been big bucks. Putting that together ($$$, small volume production, & the clue) says "Medical" to me.

That's the best I can do for now.

Re: Another Picture Challenge

Looks like a pill splitter to me. Many prescriptions cost about the same regardless of the dosage, so people buy higher dosages and cut them in half to save money. Maybe the blue color connotes Viagra, which goes with the original poster saying he hopes no one has to use it. On the other hand, if someone only needs half a Viagra to get the job done, that is certainly better than needing the whole pill, right? You just have to think positively... And remember the spokesman for this product, former Senator Bob Dole from the great state of Kansas. He was in his eighties, and had a fifty-something year old wife, who was quoted in public as saying, "It's a wonderful drug." Now you don't have much choice about getting old, except for dying young. If you have to get old, there are worse things in life than having a significantly younger (and quite good-looking and accomplished) wife singing the praises of a drug that puts you back in the saddle again, so to speak. Better living through chemistry, I say!

The quality looks pretty good to me.

This is a prescription container and pill cutter. Probably used for travel.

This is a combination unit. A Pill splitter on one end and a pill container on the other. For those who are taking a regular dose of a half pill for some medical condition. Never have seen a combination like this.

At first glance I thought it was a snake-bite kit, but I now concur with the pill storage/splitter. Handy little unit!

Yep, can't fool the CR4 crowd for very long, I tell ya!

It is a combination pill splitter, pill crusher, water cup, and pill storage. My mother is due for cataract surgery, and needs to take 1/2 pill a day to control high blood pressure. Every other day I split a pill for her and put one of the halves in the bottom storage compartment, saves me from having to fish around for the half-pill.

I gave GA's to the the following individuals for their responses:

charlie_r for the first correct answer,

Sparkstation for posting a better picture of it from the manufacturer,

Bricktop, for posting a link to an identical product from an different manufacturer, but with a complete explanation.

It's the lock on a plastic flint-lock rifle. Very rare considering plastic could only be found in the wild... Well, OK looked for.
