Suggestions for Final Year Electrical Engineering Project

What aspects of electrical engineering interest your friend, mupwi? In general, students do best when they undertake work that interests them.

I realize that it must be difficult to get that virgin project he is looking for. But there are always needs or nice to have electronic gadgets required.

Get your friend to visit a factory and look for processes that can be improved by electronics. Have him look at simple things in the home.

Don't aim too high - Go for the ankle's.

Electronic devices to have around the house... hmmm.. okay heres one. A gold detector.. for use in river beds in the rockies. I would just wave it over the surface of the water.. and it would find big nuggets for me.

As suggested, first ask yourself what area you (or your friend) are interested in.

When I did mine only a few years ago, my interest was biomedical and fiber optics. I combined the two and did a project in detecting presence of bile in a persons stomach while undergoing surgery using fiber optics. Of course i did not use a person or mice...i proved it could be done with theory and a working model. Quite interesting.

Build a CNC machine.

Visit a good college or university library. Blindly walk through the stacks and randomly pull a book off the shelf. Look through it quickly and use some imagination as to the possibility of a project. Repeat as necessary. If you don't find anything in an afternoon or so, try another method or return the next day.
