1000 $ software which does nothing at all

02/24/2009 11:14 PM

Finally, sensible people probably lost it.

It reminded me of the "Air-Guitar" competitions, and the "pretend-food restaurants" of yesteryear.

What's up with that ?

Yuval, what are you trying to say? Lately, you seem to have some furballs over computing problems. Are you venting? If you are, my condolences. Unless you abandon PC with Windoze OS, you will always be grumbly hateful. When you can finally bite the bullet and kick MS goodbye, you will become humbly grateful!

Well, in this particular case, it's supposed to be an IPhone application - nothing to do with PC or Windows - and yes, it does absolutely nothing at all, but to tell the world that you just bought it.

O.K, O.K, forget about the "Air-Guitar" and "Pretend-Food Restaurant" remarks.

Would you pay one thousand bucks for something that does nothing ?

In my last thread, although I bitched about hi-tech bloatware - it came to a sensible discussion about spyware cookies.

Just asking once more: What's that all about ?

Any one ?

Well obviously its a fashion statement to express oneself, as meaningless as those diamond-encrusted cell phones and solid gold cars. I feel sorry for people who think that they need these things to make themselves feel important or special.

What a shallow waste of money that could be put to better use.

The rich aren't the only ones to buy things for status. Just look at the stuff sold on Ebay.

It's all about data--> information --> knowledge. And knowledge is power.

hi langyaw,

To be more precise, In "What's that all about ?" - I was referring to the question of why would someone want to spent a thousand dollars on a piece of software - if you can call it that - which does absolutely nothing at all ?

What is it ?

The Ultimate Bloatware ?

----

And if it actually does something useful, could someone here tell us all - What it is ?

I don't know if all that's true, but you'd have to be a bit mad to store financial details on your own computer or any 3rd party's.
