Why do you want to launch pigs? Isn't it better to transport them in trucks? Does the SPCA know about what you intend to do?

In fact, I keep pigs because there is too much human dirt around and so pigs are required to clean it.

These pig questions always bring out the jokers as above .

The answer to your question could possibly be found in your company's standards/design guides, or by asking the client to whom you are designing for.

If neither of these work out : the barrel length is dependent upon the operating procedures, service, type of pigs, available space, etc., but in general for launchers deploying conventional pigs - 2 x pig length; while for receivers - 3 or 3.5 x pig length.

If space allows and/or the requirements are for intelligent pigs (usually the largest)- the barrel length should be decided only after consultation with the pig manufacturer, and usually 10% is added to the barrel.

If pigs were meant to fly, they'd have launchers of course.

And if you think thats something, You should see the pig catchers.........they are really pig catchers. tongue in cheek

Thanks XMech for your reply and solution. In fact, now a days pig launcher to be designed keeping dimensions / requirements of intelligent pigging. For this intelligent pigging details shall be there.

In standardization process, I have caried out some analysis and to finalize more study is rewuired.

Thanks you once again.

Ok, in my ignorance, what is a "pig" and why do you want to launch it?

(oh boy, I'm wide open for this one!)

I'll go easy on you with this one - this question has been asked before, and there was a time when I didn't know as well:

Not from this pig in a poke

I'm glad the OP didn't ask for specs on a poke. It took me a bit to figure out the breed of pig. The poke would have me thinking of sharp sticks and would be the wrong point.

Well, I learned something here, thanks to the guest. I had assumed it was like a potato launcher, but used for a barbecue!

Better to build a squirrel laucher or a cat-a pult.

Want a demo cat for the cat-a-pult?

I call him Barfy. The kids call him Tigger (spelt T I double gerrr)

(If he would stop throwing up hairballs on the furniture, walking across my keyboard and fax machine, chewing my mouse, and drooling when I feed him, he would be better appreciated.)
