Easy. Calculate the volume, then refer to Kempe's Engineers' Handbook, any edition, for the density.

W x L x T x density

5000mm x 2000mm x 80mm x 7860kg/m3= 6288 kg

Guest that's a great formula. Normally i do my way add add 5%.

Questionl Where do i get the density of all sizes of ms plates?

Does the same formula calculate also angle Iron in various sizes?

please note

5000mmX2000mX80mmX7860kg/M3=6288

or

0.5X0.2X0.8X7.85=6.280 Mt

AN MS PLATE 1" THICK , SIZE 8 FT X 4 FT = 600 KG WEIGHT.

SAME PLATE SIZE 3"(80MM) = 1800 KG.

NOW 3" (80MM)THICK PLATE = 1800 KG/32 SFT = 56.25 KG/SFT.

YOUR SIZE = 16.4 FT (5000 MM)X 6.6 FT (2000 MM)= 107.6 SFT X 56.25 KG/SFT

= 6053.15 KG/6.O METRIC TON

VOLUME in CUBIC INCHES x 0.28 = Weight in Pounds.
