Is Scrap Steel Price Going Up or Down in August?

We can expect commodity prices to stay stable, or go down for a couple of years at best.

How many companies are currently buying 1/2 steel plate 20 feet long and 7 feet wide?

Far as I can tell the US is in deep economic trouble and has cut back on making things with steel.

A 7 by 20 piece of plate steel doesn't sound like scrap to me.

this is from a water tower and the pieces are curved up in middle.any good ideas for the steel pipes 20ft-40ft long 30 inches straight through the middle guess it would make culvert pipe for driveway or something don't know who might want it.and i'm looking to sell this not buy it.

There aren't a lot of scrap dealers here.

We may be interested in the steel pipes. What diameter are they and what is the thickness of the steel.

Scrap hasn't ever commanded very good prices - there should be some middle ground like "lightly used".

Tell us how getting it down went for ya?

I agree the pipe would make great culvert. What shape is the steel in?

Frankly Milo is the guy to ask about this from what I know.

From what I know the steel is scrap, and during the fall of the Berlin Wall, Russians were lucky to get 5 cents a ton.

May be a good number of Atomic Weapons still floating around, but apparently there are fewer Tanks and Submarines.

It crossed my mind you might make a small steel boat or barge out of the stuff, but I imagine this would not really work out as a profitable enterprise, long term, or short term, due to a number of problems.

One problem with the stuff as for ready use is the curves.

Another is that street steel plates that I've seen are an inch thick, flat, and of a typical 6 by 12? size.

Possibly there is a local architect, or designer who could turn it into a house, but it does sound to me that it is scrap to be sold to the scrap yard, for pretty much whatever they will give you for it.

Is it scrap, or is it art?
