The Wrong Place?

08/02/2009 2:08 PM

I am not an Engineer (i.e. no degree). Am I in the wrong place?

For job opportunities you can click Engineering Careers under

CR4 Sections at the right of the screen.

For sharing knowledge you are in the right place.

If I were a degreed Engineer, I would take your suggestion. Thanks for the feedback.

Stick around. You'll figure it out. Just explore for a while.

Go to all the Sections on the right>

Anyone who is coherent is welcome. ( there are exceptions to this rule, but, I don't make them.)

You are totally welcome, and many of us are not engineers.

But you are bound to know something, and if you'll share that knowledge when someone is in trouble, you are home.

But I am curious how you found our happy home, I personally was trying to answer a question about irrigation so many years ago (and lest you be intimidated - no one here could answer it either).

I think I hung around because they tried.

I ended up here because I was doing research into batteries.

Ended up at Wikipedia and then Exide and then Global Spec, and registered.

The Forum is to me all I wanted from Shortwave Radio, but never got.

- got bottles with roofing tin, and roofing copper cut to 1" wide and three inches long in half liter carafes filled with White Vinegar to produce cell outputs of 1.8 volts for a couple of months.

Was a lot of fun. -got addicted to the forum.

Curious as well as Edignan how you ended up here?

Nice of you to register since the veterans get cranky with "Guests".

P.S. I was a Film Grip or Gaffer and there is probably a case to be made for me as a scholar of 20th Century literature. Around here my extensive reading of Nevil Shute is of more respect, than my understanding of Absolam Absolam by William Faulkner.

A thermometer has 100 degrees (at least where I come from) and is pretty darn useless as an Engineer. Many of us are not degreed engineers but still contribute to and learn from this forum.

Just a note: At present there are approximately 10 000 comedians out of work and I think that at least 10% of them are on CR4. (Not altogether surprising sometimes that they are out of work).

It is the attitude that matters not the degree. In industries I have seen so many degree-ed non engineers and non-degreed Engineers (ana am still finding a new one every day- not in cyberspace- in actula 3D Model )

Welcome to the forum. Contribute and learn.

(Only don't ask to do your class/project/homework assignments)

I'm just a lowly drafter, but a lot of engineers and architects started out as drafters. I'm also a ham radio operator who had tinkered with antenna building and design, so I guess I'm an amateur engineer.

Actually, we're just a bunch of nuts. Most of us work in engineering or engineering related fields. Scan through the site, and you'll see discussions on everything from higher math to car repair to bathtubs.

And DO NOT ask why the voltage is 11 kV or multiples of it. Anything else goes.

Cheers

A piece of paper is not good enough to be called an engineer, So don't worry about that, Just look inside and figure out if you have that basic instinct of an engineer?

If yes, then you are at right place.

Hey Guest - get it on, man! This is a also great place to pick up chicks, as well as redesigning the multi universe as we @ CR4 plod on into the now, as we thinks we knows it.

By the way, some of the engineers and PHD's here, where I work, are too damn educated & smart to pitch in and make a new pot of coffee when they take the last drop. I guess it's beneath their station in life to do so.

Welcome - Loupy
