Canadian Growth Industry?

08/08/2009 2:43 PM

Here's the sign:

Here's the link:

http://www.omegacleaning.ca/crimetraumacleaning/

To Canadian CR4 Member's, what's up with this?

I expect this kind of thing in say, Miami, Detroit, Chicago, along our border with Mexico, but on Highway 11 in Ontario?

Do you think that perhaps this is a result of too much CSI type TV programming?

Who exactly is the target audience for this sign/ service?

sorry I'm not part of your exclusive group......but...

Their is a need to do that type of work, its very hard to find someone that would, but you would think they would have contacted the agencies directly.

Your reply is welcome too.

I'm trying to figure out the "lets put the sign in big overgrown field at the highway" to get the most views and impressions rationale.

Is this the highway all the victims drive on?

My Aunt from toronto used to sneer at the crime rate in US vs Canada. This sign says not any more.

Or else us US entrepreneurs are missing an opportunity, We have cities with crime rates 20X higher than Canadian metropoliii

One of my favorite signs of all time was seen on a Sign Store in Harlem.

A BUSINESS WITHOUT A SIGN, IS A SIGN OF NO BUSINESS.

Another cute saying on the topic is that "not advertising your business is like winking to a girl in the dark"

Cant say I have ever seen a crimes and trauma advertisement sign before. You Canadians do like to be leaders when it comes to odd stuff!

I worked for a few months at a greedy and very crooked sign company. I think one of there motto's was "if you hired us, Heres your sign."

That relates to the comedian Jeff Foxworthys Heres your sign jokes about people to stupid or clueless to know better and what not.

That's central ontario, including all of metro-toronto, so you are talking probably a 5 million population region. I think that after the movie "The Cleaner" that this type of service might be rising in the popular psyche and need. While Canadian murder rates are much lower than US cities, there is still a lot of death by other causes, and need for this service.

This reminds me, sort of, of an old movie, staring Robert Redford about a CIA operative that discovered something he wasn't supposed to, and, while he was out to lunch, the entire staff of his office was wiped out. When he called the "emergency number", the government sent in the "cleaners", who removed not only all signs of the bloodbath, but all signs of what the facility had originally been used for...cut to a scene of Mr. & Mrs. Middle America visiting the site within 24 hours with the intention of renting or purchasing the site as a primary residence (I don't remember if that last bit was actually part of the movie, or something I added in my imagination later).

Anyway, the idea of the "Cleaners" has been sitting in the back of my mind ever since...Call these guys in to erase all signs of whatever event you want to deny....

I don't know about cleaning up murder scenes but you could probably start a business cleaning up houses that were used for indoor grow op marijuana use. I've even heard of clueless immigrants growing a garden in a spare room, so you can imagine the damage water , mould and mildew can do to a residence.

I believe there's a movement in the Real estate industry to report grow op houses so buyers don't get plagued by health problems.

Actually I did hear a lengthy NPR story about people whose job was to clean up homes in which people had killed themselves, or died alone.

It was a fairly gruesome show about a pretty gruesome business.

Imagine any Urban area has call for such work, though I don't know if I could take it.

I don't know about you, but I've been the victim of some pretty spicy food, and wish someone would clean up the trauma the next morning...

Provincial legislation prohibits roadside advertising in most Canadian provinces. The exception to this occurs on native Indian reservations, which are granted self-legislative powers under the Federal Indian act. This is why you see billboard more suitable to an urban centre out in the countryside. The same occurs for fireworks.

Hey! Are you finding it hard to clean up those pesky blood splatters from your walls and blood soaked ooze out of your carpet and floor boards? How about that nauseating odour from that week old corpse that was stuffed in your linen closet?

Well look no further! We the professional Crime and Trauma clean up crew at Omega Cleaning amegacleaning.ca will take care of it for you.

I think it is smart for a few reasons.

1) Unique service not seen on a billboard before will be remembered

2) They cover ALL of Ontario (24 hour service)

3) Advertising the toughest job (biohazard cleaning has strict guidelines) implies standard jobs are a piece of cake.

Kudos

Just another sign of the times, I guess.

Too bad.
