The standard working procedure for the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce is to do no work. That is a union job that cannot be accomplished without filling out a 1087EW permit. To acquire a 1087EW permit first submit a D145 action item request, no later than a revision J copy, by printing out the form, filling in the appropriate boxes on the form and then sending a scanned copy to your supervisor. Some one should contact you, eventually.

There you go, then. Are we all good to go now? Problem solved!

But seriously; try to shut off power before repairs are made, and when doing measurements or testwork (eg: voltage, amperage, power factor etc.) wear Arc Flash PPE, such as flame resistant clothing, voltage rated tools, helmet with arc flash face shield, voltage rated gloves, Category IV instruments etc.

Of course these recommendations are contingent with the voltages and current levels that you're working with, as well as your local area workplace regulations and requirements dictate.

Most of our equipment on the MCC's in our lab are 600VAC, 3 phase, with 800 amp circuit breakers being the largest.

It's also required, and a smart idea to not work alone and have a trained safety person standing by, just in case, to shut off the juice, or get help. (worst case scenario).

Try to Google "arc flash hazards" for your part of the rock, and you might pick up some good info.

Hope this helps,

Loupy

Loupy,

A very good start. I would only a add few things. Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) protocols for any and all motors that the disconnect is not in the immediate control of the repair worker. All limited motion motors have two sets of limit switches. The inner limit switches work with the software to stop motion in the direction of travel, so software can permit backing of of this limit switch. The outer limit switches disables any motion from continuing. The outer limit switches may be omitted if and only if it is impossible for the motor to damage anything at the end of travel (hard stop).

Just don't forget to fill out the paperwork.

Why don't you give some details? What is MCC? WE CAN"T READ YOUR MIND!

Why don't you use the internet and search some, before you come here and make a complete fool of yourself.

There is no standard SWP to work on MCC panel. All SWP is created by ecah indidual personal/engineer and the most importance aspect is the safety of the people working on the MCC pane.

Talk to your chargeman or local regulation on working with MCC panel.
