Battery Sizes and Codes

03/05/2010 1:13 PM

Hi All, Can anybody explain how the battery size coding (AA, AAA, C etc.) came to being. Is there any significance for each of those alphabet(s) in the code? Thanks in advance.:)

Wikipedia is my new best friend!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery_nomenclature

All you seek (and much more) can be found there.
