Gas Engineering Jobs in the US and Canada

03/23/2010 9:01 PM

Hi guys,

I am presently studying for a Masters Degree in Gas Engineering and Management in the UK and will be rounding off studies by september but I'm interested in relocating to work either in the U.S or Canada after my program.

Please i need advice and suggestions on how to go about it.

Is it attainable Considering that i have no industry experience yet?

Or should i stay back in the U.K for now?

Please advice!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

No matter what offers are received, a work-based Visa will be required. A telephone call to the local US Embassy would be a useful first step.

I haven't received any offers yet.

From my enquiries, some companies need a valid visa before a job offer is made.Meanwhile, a job offer is required before a visa can be applied for so i'm a little bit confused.

Even if an official job seems difficult to come by, you might consider pursuing an internship of some kind. A promising approach might be to research opportunities in Edmonton, which is a delightful city. Best of success!

Don't come to the US. We are on the last swirl before actually going down the crapper. Israel just discovered a huge Gas deposit off their coast last year from what I understand. That might be a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor. Been considering it myself in recent days.

I previously worked for Chevron and other big energy companies in the natural gas area. Get your experience at home first. British Gas or Shell are the big fish to go after. Then, if you are highly regarded, you may get a shot at being an expatriate, working for them in the US or Canada. This is much more lucrative than coming here on your own nickel (oops, I mean pence). I've been an expat twice; believe me, it pays well and they take care of a lot of stuff for you including work permits, housing, etc. Good luck. Rayzer

I'm sorry to go off topic. But your reply is somewhat also. I'm assuming that your American. So you should'nt be moaning so much, as this is all a result of the economic structure, that you americans are forcing upon the rest of the world. So much for Free Trade, where profits/money is everything. The money men want they're pound of flesh and, they don't give a damn, who the casualities are. Suck it up, you reap what you sew. You can't have your cake and eat it. Don't blame the Bush man, he was to dumb to realise what was going on, he was just a puppet on a string. Look behind the facade and you will find the true culprits of this economic crisis. But I can garantee that they will not have been affected.

Seems trivial, however, of great importance is your initial presentation. September and I should have been capitalized. Sentences, spoken or written, should not end in prepositions (it). Always, best foot forward. Best regards, G
