Why We Talk Endlessly About NOTHING

03/31/2010 8:16 AM

My discussion spans 10 letters with nothing but bragging and finding faults.

said earlier that a straight answer could suffice.

It was succinct to say ,to google to, a person who might have forgotten.

May be he/ she wanted engineering community to comment rather than Google something.

Is Fish a vegetarian dish? Then why we embark upon such high ideals by using such

lofty ideals like;

Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish and you have fed him for a lifetime."

Why do we segregate women which this writer happened to be.

Useless words once written cannot be taken back.

Can you please tell me who crafted the first stapler from the rare material unobtainium?

And now a quote from your last truly intellectual post about staplers.

"Why do we waste other's time."

Why do you waste our time with this rubbish?

BTW, do you know who invented the stapler now?

hey lyn^2

Here's something you probably won't learn on google: The Japanese word for stapler is pronounced Hodg- kiss -des

They named it for the inventor... hodgekiss (or something close to that

Picked that up homeschooling the family Japanese on Georgia public TV back in the '90's

ああ、サーありがとう,

That's interesting. My sister hosted a Japanese exchange student for 3 months.

He spoke very good English so I had fun having him pronounce different words for me.

May be he/ she wanted engineering community to comment rather than Google something

For the inventor of stapler?

When there are engineering questions, people do respond here. I had my own experience (recent one was when i enquired about a high strength steel forging with good weldability- contradictions, I knew, but just might be the community knew an exception) - and that of course is not easily googleable- just try it.

And I too am doing my part on those, even homeworks we leave a hint But not on this.

Put an challenging engineering question and people will respond else one will get answers as that thread received.

RAJ089,

What exactly is your question? Are you asking for recommondations on how best to staple fish? If so, there's not enough info.

Please state what type of fish (fresh, saltwater, etc.) and estimated average mass. Then we need to know what substrate you intend to staple it to and what shear forces you need the stapled fish to withstand.

Why We I Talk Endlessly About NOTHING

A far more apropos title for your querulous and ostentatious demeanor RAJ089.

I didn't brag or find fault, but I did engage in a bit of fantasy.

You know you have to remind me because you know I'm getting old and where did this screwdriver come from? I had a screwdriver once it was a phillips screwdriver it was milk of magnesia and vodka. I didn't know milk of magnesia would give you a hangover and vodka is made from potatoes and I don't eat potatoes any more so I will have a salad. Salads have tomatoes and tomatoes are a fruit and I try to eat two fruits a day and I need to spray the apple and peach trees. We don';t get many peaches because the frost gets the blooms too cold but it's not cold now and I might wear shorts this weekend when we go to the coast for Easter. Easter is fun because this is when we celebrate the death and resurrection of our lord and savior Jesus Christ who died for our sins. We celebrate this with a giant bunny that lays colored eggs. I like eggs too and I think I will get me some chickens. We had colored ducklings when I was little. Well I'm getting tired now and my crayon is melting. Melted crayon smells like ranch dressing. I will have ranch dressing on my salad when I eat lunch with my daughter on Tuesday.

Engineers whether they man or woman are very much too the point sort of people, in my experience most of the time they talk facts and have little time for what we see as stupid questions. For me this isn't a problem I like the straight talk.

However as a project manager I've a couple of times seen how the "corporate" staff almost find them impossible to deal with.

Like I said I've never had a problem, when they get going on their little hissy fits and rants about how poorly educated people are these days you simply either feed them something like chocolate cake which gets them to shut up long enough to listen to what your saying or give them the "look" that informs them they are acting like two year olds.

Takes all kinds and what would be the fun if everyone including the engineers was "normal".

Your problem was to ask the wrong question instead of "Who invented the stapler?", you should have asked "What sort of forces and how to calculate those forces are involved in the operation of a stapler?"
