Hi,
I'm really stuck on some coursework for my HNC - I'm a trainee QS but am being asked to work out 2 things that I have no idea about!! If anyone could possibly help I'd be so grateful!!!
The question is this:-
You have a building 10.350m long, 6.725m wide and a balcony protruding 2.6m. In the inside of the building there's a load of 6400kg (80 people with an average weight of 80kg) uniformly distributed and on the balcony a load of 2400kg (30 people with an average weight of 80kg) uniformly distributed + 12% for safety.
1) How do I calculate the reaction at the supporting wall
2) What's thickness of slab and mix would be recommended and why
As I'm sure you'll agree - not a great question for a QS.
Thanks for any help you can give!!!!
