I won't do your work for you.

This might help if your supplier can certify to these specs.

  1. ASTM G85 -09 Standard Practice for Modified Salt Spray (Fog) Testing

  2. ASTM B117 -09 Standard Practice for Operating Salt Spray (Fog ...

316 SS will do it. The centerboard on my 20ft sailboat is made of 316 St Stl and it sits in salt water for at least 6 months a year. The center board is over 40 years old and the only wear on it is slight where I occasionally run aground and wear a little of the metal off. No chemical errosion/corrosion at all! The 5/8" bolt that it pivots on is also 316 St STl and at least 30 years old. It also shows no wear or corrosion, looks as good as the day I put it in.

I also have used 316 extensively in and around sea (salt) water for all sorts of projects without any negative results.

Don't use 304 or 18-8. It forms "worm holes" from Hydrogen.

When I worked for a communications company we had to build a new shore entry for a submarine cable. The cable was hoisted off the seafloor using a cable laying ship. The old shore end was cut off. A splice was made and a new shore end installed. The old piece was abandoned. I scuba dived on the abandoned piece and disassembled the armour plating that is used near the shore for protection. These plates were held together with MONEL bolts. I cleaned them in my shop removing coral build up using a wire wheel and they were in MINT condition after 25 years in the ocean.

This may not be relevant but you may find it interesting.

Regarding Monel---I salvaged and rebuilt a 40' Catamaran, from a tropical harbor. It had been in decay for many years. In taking the pieces apart, I removed 3" and 4" Monel screws and bolts, that had been in place since a few years after the Korean War.. They also, were in perfect shape, and were used to rebuild the boat. I do not know the history of Monel, but it is expensive, but a wonderful metal.. I would choose it over many grades of stainless. One must dial up the engineering requisites first...
