That's old news - I'm talking IDGuru 3.2.1.1.1 - the CAD/CAM that doesn't really need you - It creates a set of design ideas, drafts it for presentation, then generated complete machining and assembly paths, decides which of those you should choose, creates material and tool ordering, auto-supervising the manufacturing process, and finally sends your termination-slip to your house, all at the push of a single button !

I've been out of the field too long, but start by searching for "contract manufacturers".

i expect you have already checked out the Rapid Prototyping guys like Z Corp in the USA. If not, please do so, some may be willing to undertake such jobs.

If US companies are not able/willing, there are many in India who are. If you are interested, i can give some contact details, though i know them in their capacity to supply LV Circuit Breaker prototypes. Some are plastics experts so should have some knowledge of baby friendly materials and even designs...

You can search GlobalSpec using terms like "contract manufacturing," "prototyping services," or similar keywords. Then you can narrow results by adding specifications, including geographical location.

Use of a Chinese company to make the prototype will shorten the time to when a sea of chinese competitors arise.

No matter what agreements you sign, the prototyping company will supply protoypes to a sea of others.

That is why Apple etc, prototype in the USA. They also have decdicated chips the copiers can not get, even sl Apple stuff is soon cloned, albeit to lesser functionality.

There is a company in USA - they call themselves Davidson - who convert your ideas into products. They cahse you- if they like your idea. You have to fund their prototype making charges etc. I found it on website, wrote to them once and they keep chasing me for many years ! May be you can find out from google.

Producing a prototype is a considerable investment made by the producer.

IMHO, one shouldn't expect them to do it, unless they should get a piece of the (expected) pye...

Davison has been sued several times by the FTC for fraud. Do not use them.

you need to register on www.mfg.com

and you will find the manufacturers bidding on your rfq. it is a great system.

and of course CR4 parent Globalspec may be able to help you find a vendor.

IDC are an excellent and long-established product development agency based in the UK. As well as the design office, they have comprehensive prototyping facilities, including SLA. It does puzzle me, peaceandlove, when I consider all of your questions of the group.

First, it was a manufacturer for "...electronic equipments/devices/gadgets as per our desing and brand name.". Then, it was "...kite boarding manufactures that can produce accessories like harness, backpack etc as per our own desings.". Then you tell us "We would like to develop a stand free customized, adjustable vanity/shaving mirror. Can you please provide some reputable manufactures that can produce this product for us?" And then you asked us "...what does "Rapid Prototyping" Companies actually do.".

Today, you are "Looking for companies that can produce complete working prototype from making drawings to final product (specially in the field of baby-friendly products).".

All of these topics in the last four and a half months. There may be some trade secret issues here, but if not, would you help me to understand these very diverse interests?
