Very Small Disposable Transmitter

03/08/2007 7:34 PM

I have an idea for a test verification that would require a small transmitter emitting a signal for a short time (two are three months) Is there such a thing and if so what might it cost.

There is potential for large profit.

I suspect that plumberman would be reluctant to give too much information on his idea. If he's got a great idea for a product, why give out the idea before it's patented or manufactured? However...

Sorry plumberman, unless I personally know you, I wouldn't give this type of information out. You'll find what you need eventually, I know, but it won't come from me. Your idea has some great uses but some are potentially illegal. I'm not saying that's what you're doing but, like I said, unless I know who you are, this is something I'll keep to myself. Besides, even if your intentions are good, who's to say that someone else reading these things have other motives?

This is something that I've thought about in CR4 though nobody's actually gone and said it (or I missed the post where it was discussed). People asking questions that might be for potentially dangerous activities. Should we guard what information we give out or just give everything and just hope for the best? My stand is...I decide for myself.

I assure you what I have in mind is legal.and would be a useful tool to local governments to verifying an annual test.

Any kind of signal that could be picked up by a hand held device. The signal would only have to transmitt for a couple of months. This can only work if the transmitter cost is low as it will be required to be replaced each year after test is performed. VERY LARGE MARKET!

This looks like it is another one of those RFID Orwellian things. Bet they are plotting to implant the things using the food chain or something similar and then every few months or so doing it again and again.

It is illegal to operate a radio station, but there are open channels (pmr446 or family 464) available for bidirectional communication. search the web for Alan (allan) - Midland, (we are using the Midland G7 with good effect)

If the name plumberman is an indication i presume that you are actually interested in transmitting data or location. A lot of telemetry equipment is available of the shelve. Electronic kits may be available.

It all depends on weher you live. If you can get to London just visit the spyb shop.

If not look on the internet under spyware or transmitters. The amount of power required and the amount of space available also the frequency required, wheather continuous output or pulsed output are required. What mode of transmission is to be used AM versus FM wide band or narrow band. Speech or digital tone or simply carrier modulated. I suggest you get some books and read up on this. In theory yes you can make a very small low power device that will last for several weeks/months.

The wild life people usecvthem to track birds and small animals when they wantv to find them in vast open areas. These type of transmitters use special pulsed tone devices that only emit a a tone burst ever few seconds.

Sorry about the spelling I was typing too fast for my own good, rather early in the morning. My key board seems to have a mind its own and lets me down every twice in a while.

My intent is to verify that a type of a water device had been tested(annual test required) simply due to the placement of a disposable transmitter that would allow the local Gov. to check. This is not to say the test was done ,only that the tester was there.

The potential for this is very large, however, cost is important because each year a new trans. different signal would be required.

okay, high volume is good.

Now...

1) what transmit range/power did you have in mind?

2) where is your target market?

3) what is your target price?
