It's the amount burned per unit time.

X+?=?

Noone can solve for (?). There just isn't enough quantification of the variables involved. Not unlike your question.

Depends on how big the engine is.

depends of size of engine, type of fuel and air/gas ratio.

The amount of fuel burned per power stroke depends upon the stoichiometric ratio, usually taken to be 14.2 : 1 in a spark ignition engine, this is more or less a fixed ratio. But the amount of fuel in each power stroke depends in turn on the configuration of the engine, dia of bore etc.,

  • Nationally?
  • Globally?
  • On an individual vehicle?
  • Within the transport sector only?
  • The lawn mower here burns about 5L of petrol per year. Does that help?
