Turkey Day

11/24/2010 10:58 AM

From Wiki

Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. While it may have been religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday.[1] It is sometimes casually referred to as Turkey Day.

To all my CR4 associates who celebrate it, have a Happy Thanksgiving Day.

Hello lynlynch, and thank you for the magnanimous holiday greeting.

I would also like to take a moment to extend all of my CR4 friends a heartfelt greeting, and hope for you all the best of the holiday season.

Is anyone REALLY going to go shopping at 3:00 AM Friday morning?

The link below doesn't have anything to do with Turkey Day per se (other than a lot of people in the U.S. are traveling), but it's fun to watch:

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Re: Turkey Day

We have such a festival in the UK & Europe, but instead of stuffing ourselves full of Turkey and watching the game with our trousers undone, while the better half makes the pudding and fills the washing up machine, we go to church and give thanks to God for the bountiful harvest......

Its also not a holiday as it generally happens only on a Sunday......

We simply do it differently......

Now that sounds far more attractive (except for the silicone poisoning!!)

Remember each to his own in this world......surely you are a Turkey man on Thanksgiving Day, like 85% of US citizens? Or maybe not?

I still prefer our harvest festivals due to the importance of the role children usually play in the church service and what an pleasant influence it had on me as a kid.......I look back most fondly on such times as those.....

......but if you never experienced it or your religion does not allow it, well bad luck. You will never miss what you never had......

May your God go with you.

Well, during the WW1, the Turkish Muslims slaughtered 1.5 Million Armenian by chopping off their necks ,in few weeks, in the largest massacre in the history.

The reason is : Armenians are Christians and not Muslims.

That is true, though the Christianity's original place was Turkey (during st.Paul time) and from there spread-ed to all over Europe, but later all churches in Turkey destroyed by Muslims and converted to mosques and until now they don't allow any church to be built there ,and the few Christians left there suffer from a great prosecution and many of them being killed just because they are Christians.

That is the situation in all Muslim countries.

That is not propaganda it is true, I'm from the middle east where hundred of thousands of Armenians escaped from the Turkish Muslims massacres and came to Syria,Lebanon,Egypt,Iraq,Palestine and other countries in the middle east and around all over the world at that time and millions of their relatives ware killed by Muslim turks in Armenia.

Turkey denies but it is true and you can't change the facts ,that is the Muslims behavior any where they are.

Re: Turkey Day

11/26/2010 6:36 AM

You should read up your history, it is sadly very true.......

If you are in anyway Muslim or Turkish related, you may have been brought up to not believe this, that is not your fault, but it still does not change history for the rest of the world Russ123......sorry.

Try reading the following book:-

The Armenian Massacres in Ottoman Turkey: A Disputed Genocide (Utah Series in Turkish and Islamic Studies)

Or for a quick online update please read:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_Genocide

There is a good link about the War between the two and the dozens of treaties, many broken by the Turks, at this site:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish%E2%80%93Armenian_War

This is not fantasy or anything like that, it REALLY REALLY HAPPENED!!!!

Saying it didn't does not change facts......

If you need any further help, just ask, there is a wealth of material available.

Recently, the BBC in the UK ran several programs on this very subject with old film footage and many pictures and facts.......

Russia under communist rule (mostly Stalin) rewrote the history books to show a better side (completely untrue, according to them they "invented" everything first!!) of communism, but it still does not change the fact that they have slaughtered at least as many of their own people quietly, than were killed officially in both wars.....

Estimates are from between 20-30 Million in total.

See here:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalin#Purges_and_deportations

Mao did similar things, I have sailed through the sea off China in the 60's where there were dead bodies from horizon to horizon, all Chinese. With dead sharks between them, dead from overeating it was believed....or the lead from bullets maybe, who knows.....

Most of the bodies were drowned as far as we could tell, just had their hands tied behind their backs and thrown into rivers/sea to die......who wants to waste expensive bullets!!!!

Neither the cowardly British, French or the US governments of the time ever publicized it......

See here:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_Zedong

He is credited with killing between 40-70 Million OF HS OWN PEOPLE!!!

I think Hitler deserves to be mentioned, but the documentation of that is so good and complete, I hardly think that I need to post links. But there are still a few people around who try and say that the Holocaust did not happen......but its only cranks and some Catholic priests mostly......

Its probably not a good subject to discuss on CR4, but that still does not make it untrue.......

Re: Turkey Day

@ Andy - I have read much on the topic. Born and grew up in the US - only made the Turkish connection 12 years back.

Things happen during times of war. I believe that the Armenians connected with the Russians in an attempt to expand their sphere of influence (size of their homeland) and it did not come out well for them. As many or more Turks were killed. The Greeks invaded the other side of the country and that didn't come out so well either. When their troops returned home some politicians and military were executed for the folly. The Armenians should have done the same.

To cry and kick their feet 90 years later is a bit much.

In the US I am not apologizing to anyone for slavery - I never had any and had nothing to do with it.

In Turkey I am not apologizing for anything done during a civil war that happened 90 years back.

The Armenians are among the worlds greatest whiners when it comes to this.

The Turkish Ottoman's empire at that time was the leader of Muslim countries ,and they actually did their massacres by the name of Islam ,so they invaded and occupied and killed the other nations to spread the Islam by force.

The same thing been done by early Muslim invaders from Saudi Arabia in all middle east and north African countries ,where similar massacres ware committed against the original Christian natives .

So, Turkey didn't commit strange things, that the Muslims history since 1430 years ago and up to now , but russ123 uses what is called in islam "TAKIA" which allows muslims to deceive the others by saying lies to cover up.

I believe I said there were many people on all sides killed during the Armenian conflict. Peasants of both sides were wiped out without a second thought it sounds like. If you were in the wrong place it was quite unhealthy!

What about the other examples of hatred that I posted for you? Any reaction there?

What about the African people being killed even today............?

Surely you take a stand on something? or not?

I know its a bad feeling to be connected to such outrages in any way shape or form, I have seen such effects here (Germany) many times over.....and even today the German people don't want to believe that their Fathers, Mothers, Grandfathers and Grandmothers once killed 6 million Jews (and other religions and nationalities) in the camps........

Nobody here under 67 years old approximately has the name Adolf.....I wonder why????

In the war they often named male children Adolf if they were not perfect in mind or body as this protected them from being taken and killed.....the Nazi killers could/would not kill male children named Adolf...........

I still take a position on any murder, no matter where, who or when.....I feel personally strongly about this.....

Sadly very, very true.

I have both Armenian and Turkish friends here in Germany. I cannot have them over at the same time.....

The Turks are still unreasonable (mildly said) over the Armenians.....the Armenians still react badly......understandardly.....

Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me!

A peaceful and serene discussion, and you have to blow it. A time for reflection, introspection, setting aside cultural and political differences... and you smite the hand extending the laurel wreath of brotherhood.

Maybe I should reconsider my posture regarding non-members commenting on CR4.

[edit] I see you were not done at #32. <sigh> LynDoor™ Industries is developing an internet forum filter, capable of detecting anyone with an axe to grind. I regret it is not available as of yet. I will provide one to GlobalSpec free of charge when it is.
