Contact the valve manufacturer and ask them.

Can you Google?

Or, do as kramarat says. Out with the old, in with the new.

Out with the old, in with the new.

I concur. Our gland repacking team often recites the acronymic mantra: OWO IWN.

Unless you are dealing with a very large valve, meaning replacement is prohibitive. Just change it. If the packing has failed due to age, the rest of the valve can not be far behind.

If it is a large valve that has to be repaired in place, why are you not talking to the manufacturer?

Somewhere in your "too much information" you already have the answer - just requires a little bit of your effort.

The problem we have is that we don't have any information about your problem - so it is difficult to give an answer. We can give some suggestions.

Is the gland in a

pump ?

valve ?

bearing/bushing ?

soft/hard/flexible ?

Have you done this sort of work before?

Before that lot:

  • Isolate all sources of pressure, valve motive power and process fluid from the valve and raise Permit to Work.
