A flight simulator used by airlines and air force (used to) simulate plenty more parameters than on a screen.

Will I fly with a M$ flight simulator (or any) trained pilot? - NO NO a 1000 times NO.

I have taught my grandson to drive recently and the first step was to unlearn him any driving skills he learned on Need for Speed and simulators.

A flight simulator used by airlines and air force (used to) simulate plenty more parameters than on a screen

So learning the basic`s of a car should be easy then

and

Need for speed is a game. a toy not a real simulator

What sort of Simulator did your Grandson Learn On ? another toy ?

Using that analogy is like saying playing ping pong helps you fight Battles

What sort of Simulator did your Grandson Learn On ? another toy ?

This will be the last Comment i make to you Unless you have any useful input

Useful to the Original Question that is.

Good Bye

Sorry if i offend, But all i want is a list of good simulation equipment.

Some of it will be rubbish, i do nut want it to use in isolation from on the road tuition, I want it to speed up the overall learning process, I have felt for a long time that teaching in the car alone is not the right way forward.

Most people are taught to drive, pass a test go out and start learning what to do and what not to do,and many are involed in accidents in the first few years, why because they lack the insight to predict what will happen next, because it was never taught them.

This is a very haphazard approach.

I feel it would be better to teach them all the hazards and driving techniques they will need, basic car maintenance, etc, what all the various controls do.

Then armed with this knowledge take them out on the road.

This way they will have all they need to hopefully die of old age and not in a car accident.

Also i am looking into the prospect of training a lot of people really fast and feel that class room theory, followed by simulator, followed by in car/on road /Skid pan,

Would be the best all round way to produce good thinking safe drivers.

Again sorry if i annoyed you

Not annoyed a bit

I did not read the original post and responded on the heading - sorry for that.

Your intended driving course should work (especially the advanced part on the skid pan)

I however still think a simulator catering for all makes and models and all possible circumstances would be impossible, impractical and out of reach for most.

Hey Guys,

Please don't forget the simulator in the Local Hospital Emergency Room.

Has an astounding influence on the Need For Speed in more ways than one!

someone who has used one. in the UK

Advantages: Can't hurt yourself, Cheaper than a real lesson

Disadvantages: Not real, could pick up bad habits

I recently decided to start driving lessons, having passed my theory test in the autumn of last year with 34/35. I am originally from Southend and currently live in Southampton, most people I know have either forgotten who their instructor was or learnt outside of Southampton. So i decided the best thing to do was to go with a company that I knew was respectable and established and has a high pass rate.

This op is about the BSM Simulator that we have here in Southampton. I thought about going straight out onto the road but after speaking to the people in the shop I decided to go on the simulator.

The simulator is just like a real car in that it has a steering wheel, gearstick, handbrake, mirrors/side screens, pedals. Basically the area around the driver. Once I was signed onto the simulator I began.
