to be full or not to be full?

01/19/2011 8:04 PM

whats going on all? justwanted to ask what does it mean to be "full" of oneself. i only ask because a few weeks ago our sawmill burnt half way down and now we are rebuilding. and myself and my electrical super. are in charge of replacing what was destroyed and installing new equipment. blueprints of old machines have not changed but the new equipment is new and is different. so there are things that when i run conduit ill need to dodge and avoid and have i game plan, but my super is being very hush, hush and its driving me crazy. all i want to do is 1)do a professional job 2)maybe learn something new. i have expressed my concerns w/ ppl and they all say im full of myself. so in this situation what doesthat mean?

It means pretty much the same as "conceited." As you have described your situation, I don't see how it applies, unless you are coming across too strong with ideas that other people don't yet understand.

Piping that must grade consistently, such as drains, has priority. Within that constraint, one plan that I have found useful is to make east-west pipes at one elevation and north-south at another, using an offset or "kick" to make turns. Similarly, you can make horizontal and vertical piping be different distances off walls.

Good luck with your rebuild; use it as an opportunity to improve on funky old layouts.

Maybe the superhero mask intimidates them.

It's a euphemism for being full (or not) of something else.

"To be full or not to be full--that is the full question."

On a practical viewpoint just be sure that any splices / joints are documented. I speak from bitter experience, try finding a fault 20 years after an explosion ripped out the main cable run! Where were the cable references, in Albert's note book (RIP)

thnkx for hero comment. i sure hate that the lack luster effort of everyone else makes them feel like im a threat instead of a useful employee with useful skills. but on the bright side of things an engineer came from maine and andwas impressed w/ my ideas and has incorperated them intothe floor plan. :)!

Best of luck with your situation, it sounds familiar. I was working at my uncle's fertilizer factory, and this engineer he called in to update things called me a '26 year old know-it-all'. And then a machine ripped his finger off. We all knew not to put our fingers in that machine.
