Materials for Pet Food Funnel

04/15/2011 4:12 PM

Who does one contact for obtaining a thin plastic sheet which resembles two 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheets of paper connected by scotch tape and a supply of Velcro? A small square of Velcro is attached to the upper left hand corner of the sheet, it is then turned over and a 2-3 or 4 inch strip is placed at a 45 degree angle at the upper left hand corner. This enables one to adjust the opening to the correct size. The location of the Velcro was suggested by someone else. This enables a suitable adjustment of openings for the case in hand.

Any of your local office supply outlets. Office Depot ,Staples, Etc

Thin plastic sheet 8 1/2 X 11 = plastic subject divider for three ring binder.

They will have plenty of tape and Velcro also.

You'd probably find what you want at a hobby or craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michael's. On-line, you can get just about anything you want via amazon.com.

The suggestions so far are good; maybe also McMaster-Carr. They are on line, take credit cards, and ship just about anywhere. I'm not sure of the best choice of plastic, but am thinking of polyethylene about 0.015" thick (?)

I don't know the answer. I assume these questions pertain to your kitty. You are an awesome human being. I look forward to one day having the answer to one of your questions.

In the meantime, thanks for having enough faith in us to come up with a suitable answer to the one at hand.

I second what Kramarat said. How did you get your cat to help you hold the funnel? You must be the cat whisperer.

Even at my local grocery store there are "cutting sheets", which are basically thin plastic cutting surfaces ranging in size from the approx. 6x8" lemon-lime cutting sheet for a bar-top to about 18 x 24" (guessing) countertop-cover.

These are easily rolled into a trough after cutting up vegetables to pour them into the crockpot and more than one time I have rolled them into a funnel to pour food items into containers. I've not yet entertained putting velcro on them to hold them in position though. (I put these in the dishwasher and am not sure the velcro would hold up)

Perhaps just slitting the mats such that a notched piece (U-shaped tab) from one sided can slide into a slit (oriented appropriately) in the end could work?

(The more I type this, the more I'm ready to try it....)

Thanks for your suggestion. I guess I should ask at our local grocery store. It is a "bit much" to try to order from a manufacturer. That is a learning experience and I should be doing more around the house rather than zeroing in on a manufacturer. However I do need to work on the Velcro problem. There are certainly times when there is a lull around here. I can then probably work on the Velcro idea. More important though, is to catch up on local things. e-mails from friends, etc. Then there is playing chess by computer with my brother in Hawaii, trying to learn Spanish using Rosetta Stone. It goes on and on.

How about a wide bottom funnel? They are often used for canning fruit etc.
