I don't have experience with this, but THANK YOU for not saying preventative!

After all you are trying to prevent, not preventate, breakdowns.

If someone is very clever, they can be said to be inventive, meaning they invent, not inventate things.

I know I am preaching to the choir here, but maybe I'll get my point across to others who will read this (and set them straight).

I think it got started in the medical community, though as a noun. Words like sedative and carminative set the "ative" stage. When a prophylactic compound was referred to in general, it was said to be a preventative.

Sound plausible?

My dictionary (MW9C) estimates the origin of "preventive" as 1639, both as noun and adjective. "Preventative" (~1654) is defined simply as "preventive"; this suggests that "preventive" is the preferred usage.

Upgrade your OS security patches regularly and use antivirus. Keep Panel clean and maintain the temperature.

Nothing much can be done for preventive maintenance of servers.

Make a checklist and follow it sincerly to make system healthy.

OS is operating system of your Server (Win Server2000/2003). updates are available on Microsoft website and new patches are available in every 2-3 months.

These systems are prone to virus attack , so beware of it if u are somewhere connecting the DCS network to plant network or Internet.

No need to make any daily report for that, these servers are designed to run for a long time and there is no need for daily checking.

Just keep the ambient conditions healthy ( Temp., Dust) & make checklist for that.

Keep in touch with the manufacturer (HP,Dell) and upgrade your servers as per there suggession. Otherwise in case of any hardware failure you wont get any support from them.
