I have a Konus Konuspot-MAK2 spotting scope that I use for bird
spotting. It is a Maksutov-Cassegrain style of beast with a focusing
ring half-way up the body. My problem is that there is a fairly hefty
bit of effort required to rotate this ring and this effort causes
movement of the orientation of the scope thereby losing the object from
view each time I need to re-focus.
Has anyone any ideas as to how this restriction might be eased? That
is, without dismantling the unit and replacing (I expect) the heavy
grease that is in the mechanism.
