01/26/2012 8:59 PM

How an electric bicycle works? Is it efficient to travel uphill without peddling? How much it cost?

It's much more efficient going downhill and it will even go faster downhill, especially with no hands on the handle bars!!

Depends on how fast you want to go and how far...They start around $450 up to $10k...or you can just get a kit for about $300...

1. Without a specified speed, this question is meaningless.
2. If this is just a wheel, the coefficient of friction is probably too small for it to work. Please attempt to show your math, if any.

"... to use only electric power to move 60 degree steep uphill ?"

60 degree uphill? Yikes!

One horsepower per degree of incline should be enough.

You're going to need some serious traction just to keep from falling off that 60° hill.

Sounds like an application for the LynDoor™ StickyTire™ System.

Perhaps the StickySeat™ should be considered as well.

I was thinking about the LynDoor™Backpack Gravity Multiplier. But then, properly adjusted, that engineering marvel would completly negate the need for any pesky electric motors.

And, since it's solar powered, he'd not need any heavy batteries, either.

Another problem solved by the great minds at LynDoor™Industries.

Yeah, but they don't have the LynDoor™ StickyTire™ System.

All the more reason to employ the: LynDoor™ StickyTire™ System and the StickySeat™System, too.

Not only will you have "real time' seat of the pants feedback, you will know that the tires under you are "on task" too.

A human in best general health can output about 1/7hp for sustained intervals while cycling, with brief excursions above that figure, resting in-between on the down-grades. One could double that figure for seasoned cyclists in the Tour de France.

That gives some idea of the sizes of motors involved in electrifying one.

Thank you

I could guess from that its impossible to make it out of a cycle,

no wonder why e-bikes have small tires
