I Don't Know What This Is? Do You?

02/27/2012 10:59 AM

I found this little piece of metal at the edge of the road.

Nobody has been able to tell me what it could be?

I've passed it around to people of various trades with no luck whatsoever.

No.. I'm not asking about the quarter.

Is the connecting piece a rod or tube?

Is it brass?

It's mild steel.. a solid little chunk with a black paint job that has mostly flaked away.

No corrosion resistance whatsoever. no residue..

I'm guessing it bounced out of a scrap metal truck?

I guess that would make it alien in origin.

Looks like an arm that used to support ball joints with plastic anti-friction material at it's ends (balls and "sleeves" of course are gone). Something like that could be used on a car transmission levering assembly, etc. S.M.

I would agree with SimpleMind. It looks like an anti-roll bar link with the ball joints missing.

Don't worry. You'll have many more opportunities to gain, and then lose, GA 's if you hang around.

You want a GA for agreeing with someone else????

It's a sugar coating pattern maker.

Attaches to a piping bag. It is used for decorating wedding cakes and such stuff, you know, the frilly bits that cost extra.

That's what I would do with it anyway . Polish it and it would be a perfect present for the missus. Just make sure it fits the nozzle, looks the right size from here.

Hope this helps, Ky.

My first thought was some sort of sprinkler system.

I don't see why a button jig would be offset by approx 90°

I think its a tool used to check the correct consistency of paint before its put into a spray gun.....that would explain the deposits on it as well....

In Arkansas, they use this to recycle chewing tobacco.

Insert used, soggy tobacco plug in one end, press out the excess juices, and rotate 90 degrees.

Extract the previous batch for reuse, and aim the open end of the fresh wet batch towards the stove or fire for drying.

This provides a continuous supply of fresh dry chew at minimal cost.

When all flavor has been extracted, the remainder is used a wound dressing to prevent infection and absorb venom from snake bites.(Treats the snake, not the victim.)

It is also used as wadding for their flintlock rifles.

Next question.

Yes, you in the back?

It is a state in the USA.It is usually pronounced ARK IN SAW(all together in one word, 3 syllables).

Home of "Lil Abner" of comic book fame(Dogpatch, Arkansas), and the infamous Bill Clinton.(aka: Slick Willie,Horn Dog, the Monica Humidor, etc.)

They are famous for inventing the toothbrush..anywhere else they would have called it a teeth brush.

Arkansas also produces more rice than any other state in the USA, and has both bauxite and diamond mines.

Do both "cups" have four holes, or, has one got four and the other just two?

Apart from the above are the two cups identical (size and shape)?

Seriously, it looks like an extruder nozzle for licorice sticks. The streams come out at 90 degree angle to facilitate twisting, or to output to a conveyor in both directions.
