i have one doubt in while commissioning the boiler what should be the minimum waterholding capacity for boiler capacity of 130 tph ( fbc boiler

I don't think there is an absolute relationship between the two. It would also depend on the type of boiler (water tube, fire tube, etc.)

Maybe not an absolute relationship but certainly stored water and the steam disengaging surface area size will affect the quality of delivered steam. I hope you agree Tornado. Of course assuming water quality and other conditions are the same.

It depends upon the type of fuel and the variation of demand. If it is controllable, like PF, oil, gas or electricity, it can be much smaller than if it were RDF or Rexco Nuts. Since the fuel type hasn't been shared....

for a FBC boiler using a imported coal with a steam flow rated capacity of 130 tph what should be the water holding capacity

boiler type: water tube boiler

type of combustion : fludized bed combustion

operating pressure :86 kg/cm2

steam temp :515+/-5 deg c

The question is unanswerable because you have not specified the type of boiler (drum, once-through, multipass, etc.), whether you want the operating or flooded capacity, or why you need this number (pre-commissioning flushing, chemical treatment, water treatment, etc.).

Unless you have a package boiler (unlikely at that rating), the actual number will be a function of the design and should only be obtained from the boiler manufacturer, not from strangers on the web.

If you are wrong you run the risk of either melting or bursting a tube due to improper fluid levels.

Dear Mr.mohanaaram,

Mainly the Water Level as seen in the Gauge Glass is the criterion and I am of the view you have small confusion on water holding capacity.

In the Once-Through Boilers, and Super Critical Pressure Boilers, there is NO QUESTION of water holding/circulation, and water enters at one end and steam leaves at the other end.

About 50 years back, Low Pressure Boilers had Steam to Water Holding ratio was 1:2 or 1:2.2. This ratio came down to 1:0.8 about 30 years back. But Pressures keep on increasing with Final Steam Temp. also Increasing. When the Pressure has crossed 1200 psig or 84 Kg/cm^2, the FORCED CIRCULATION came in to picture.

In your posting you ave not mentioned the Pressure for the Boiler. If it is super-Critical Pressure - there is no question of water holding inside the Boiler as it will be once through Boiler.
