Steam Turbine Interlayer Heating

What is the specific purpose of inter layer heating during steam turbine rolling?Prewarming is just like flange heating as it is done in BHEL turbine.But interlayer heating is found in Dongfang (chinese) turbine.Please explain me.

If ur plant is at commissioning stage u shud ask donfang ppl only. anyways interlayer heating is a significant phenomenon in cold rolling of turbine start up. here when u charge the HP-LP bypass systm ur outer casing temperature wud increase but inner casing will not increase as per required. so a tapping is taken from the MS line n given to the inner casing layer of turbine in order to warm the inner layer of casing. Also ensure tht ur MAl drains of turbine casing are full open before rolling.
