Screws for Complex Assembly (Chart)

09/27/2012 9:03 PM

A friend sent me this, I think it could be useful considering some of the questions we get.

This will change lots of calculations in the "How Good Is Your Intuition?" thread.

That's gotta be at least 50 years old, but it's still true today.
I like thos workplace cartoons too, we have a good one at work in stores...
The guy is slumped over the stores counter sobbing and pointing to an object on the shelf while the storeman says...
"It's no good you pointing to it, the computer shows zero stock"

I remember my early days in electronics test, rushing like a mad thing to finish two sub assembles for production. I took them over to the production supervisor and plonked them in his hand (with no paperwork).
"That's all well and good, but how do I know I've got them?" he said.
" 'cos they're in your hand" I replied, not actually swearing, as I was the new boy.

I tried to save it, but still couldn't read it... got a link to a legible version? The guys on production would enjoy it.

I've heard weirder...where the vendor admitted that the item was in stock...but wouldn't sell it...because then they would be out of stock!!

How many apprentices have been sent to the stores to ask for a long weight? Or a Short circuit?

Does this sort of thing still happen?

The elf & safety or PC lot would be on your back if you played some of the tricks of old.

Miserable gits!

FYI, I added the word "chart" to the title so it'll be easier to search for.

LOL...I am afraid that, having this chart on the wall of my container office, someone will ask for the supplier contact details.

Please a readable version ASAP, I am running out of stock and need the manufacturing drawings!! XDDDD

In Navy electronics unit, a new dude was sent out around the base to find a "fallopian tube". For several days he came back with stories of good leads and promises but no tube, maybe tomorrow. I approached the guy saying it was a joke... and he said I know, but while they think I'm being naive looking for that tube, I'm having a great time shopping, having long lunches, even going surfing. :)

Ah for the socio-economic good old days when Women stayed home and raised the kids and men went to work at a job that actually paid enough that the women COULD stay home.

Somehow all this progress and political correctness has left me better off???

I would like a legible copy if possible please.

-------

In my electrician apprentice days back in 1951 I was sent out for a rubber hammer (for knocking nails in quietly), sky hooks (for holding ladders up), skirting ladders (for reaching low level sockets), wet string (cheap wiring) - none of which I was caught on but you had to run with it because in those days you dare not answer back or question your superiors - although i must admit I got caught out when I was sent to the stores for a long stand.

When I was a young 'un I didn't mind going to stores for a long stand, because in those days the storemen had the walls covered with tasteful pictures from Gentleman's Recreational Magazines.
Not tollerated these days, but as a young lad it brightened my working day.

I even saw a board with samples on it laid out over the chart. someone must have had fun with that.

when I was on an Aircraft Carrier, a supervisor sent the new guy for a bucket of steam. he ran him down about 4 hours later playing cards in a berthing lounge and started hollering at him. he flipped a thumb over into another room where a steam line was cracked and had a bucket under it, told him he was waiting for the bucket to get full.

I am reminded of...

Sending a new guy to get a bucket of prop wash...

Sending him to stores to get several fluorescent tubes, and when he is returning, you train a radar on him, and all the tubes light up.
