Boiler Feed Water Pump (Hydro Coupling vs vvvF inverter) in Combined Cycle

In combined cycle, for part-load operation, I am thinking of using Hydro Coupling or vvvF(Variable Voltage Variable Frequency) Inverter system in Boiler Feedwater Pump. What system would you recommend?

And I know some plants which use Hydro coupling, but not vvvF system. Is there any combined cycle plant which, you know, vvvF is applied in Boiler Feedwater Pump or Condensate pump or if any?

VVVF is preferable. We are are using it for both Feed Pump and Condensate pump.

Depends upon your resources.

Hydro is an older mechanical means of changing your boiler feed pump rate. It requires regular and consistent upkeep by trained experts.

vvvf is newer technology and would require a different support network.

My plant is from the '50s and we use fluid drives to couple motors to boiler feed pumps. We perform regular maintenance and have the system monitored for temp and vibration (bearings, motor etc).

You have to be forward thinking in this industry, will you have easier (cheaper) access to experts that will be able to come in and perform non-regular maint on your equipment? Do you have experts on hand that can rebuild a hydro or vvvf?

What do you think hydro vs vvvf in the aspect of electricity consumption in the part load? And as far as i know, it may be normal to apply hydro or vvvf to boiler feedwater pump, but is it also normal to apply them to condensate pump?

Condensate pumps are needed to get condensate back to the boiler hotwell. Over the last 34 years, the number counted here with vvvf on them is exactly zero.
