Are you thinking of the Beecraft Wee Bee?

With a service ceiling of Angels 10, I assume this was powered by adreneline.

It occurs to me that this would make a fine first post in the brand new Aerospace Section here at CR4.

Can a CR4 admin move this thread and make it so?

I had most of a kit for one of these, which has the pilot not prone, but belly up.

Boy I bet it's a lot of fun to fly!

We had a BD-5J at the Fargo Air show, 1997. I understand all of the jet variant have been lost to crashes.

... jet variant have been lost to crashes.

Same with many prop versions, including a few test planes. Bede never sold a safe BD5 kit. I spent a while researching different wing profiles and wing structure, (the stock wings would show buckling between ribs on the upper surface) potential engines, etc. and came fairly close to building mine, but then there was a divorce, she sold the kit to her friend to spite me, etc.

Probably just as well. It is never a good idea to combine an unproven engine with an unproven airframe. Rutan was involved in the design -- he might refuse to say how much.

But I had many a pleasant moment imagining flying it. In the short wing version, a sneeze would generally cause 3 full rolls.

I remember the Coors Light mini-jet from the Charlotte County Air show back in the 90's.
