Insufficient Cooling

03/14/2013 3:22 PM

Pls i checked an a/c it not cooling well. D gas is ok, it thought d fault was due to a dirty evaporator, av cleaned it, av set d fan to d highest speed(although am not satisfied with d speed of d fan) but av set it to d highest speed, infact i dont know what to check again pls help.

Did this AC system ever work properly before? Or is it a new installation.

What is your "figure of merit" for determining Insufficient cooling? Is the thermal capacity of the system enough to cool the space? What is the thermal capacity of the system? How much cubic volume are you trying to cool? What is the outside temperature? Where is the condenser located, in the shade or direct sun?

I'm going to assume the evaporator fan speed is what you are muddling with, correct? If so why would you put that at maximum speed? You need to let the air flow slow enough to get a temperature decrease, as well dehumidify. But if the capacity of the system was enough, it would still cool everything down eventually.

Dear M.viqu,

Did you or the AC mechanic check the Compressor Pressure.? Please check the COPRESSOR OUTLET PRESSURE. Normally it WILL BE in the range of 150 psi or 10.5 Kg/CM^2.

I am of the view that the compressor is not developing required pressure, then only cooling will be proper.

Maybe it's time to call the technician in from either the original equipment manufacturer or the local service agent to give the system a good seeing-to?

1. Is d compressor running?

2. Is d evaporator colder/is there a temperature delta?

3. Is d condensor frozen?

The compressor is ok, infact d suction line sweats back when running. D condenser is not frozen

What is the indoor temperature?

What is the discharge air temperature from the evaporator?

What is the outdoor temperature by the condensor?

What is the capacity of the equipment that you are using?

if you can come up with a thermometer you can check "the split" take a temp of the air entering the evap and let that number settle...then take the temp of the cooler discharge air and do the math, if its running correctly you should have around 20F degrees difference
