The course tutors will have the best ideas, particularly if the education establishment is receiving or about to receive grant funding on some relevant topic of interest.

It seems to me this should not be a question from an aspiring master's candidate. Only someone with a master's would be qualified to provide any kind of answer.

I agree that "this should not be a question from an aspiring master's candidate" to an anonymous forum who knows less than nothing about the aspiring master's candidate.

Might as well ask, what color should I paint my house.

There are web sites with plenty of suggested master's candidate projects.

Only the OP knows his likes, dislikes, qualifications, aptitude for engineering and a million other things that would influence such an undertaking.

You really have to follow your own interests otherwise, when the going gets tough (boredom, other interests, girls!... etc. ) it will become hard to maintain your enthusiasm.

I am just playing about with a new wind machine design (renewable energy is a popular topic) if that is of any interest? Research on wind turbines has been "done to death" by uni's etc. but there is always space for another break through? Renewable (alternative) energy devices usually can attract a lot of funding. Just a thought.

jt.

A young boy and his dad went out fishing one fine morning. After a few quiet hours out in the boat, the boy became curious about the world around him. He looked up at his dad and asked "How do fish breath under water?"

His dad thought about it for a moment, then replied, "I really don't know, son."

The boy sat quietly from another moment, then turned back to his dad and asked, "How does our boat float on the water?"

Once again his dad replied, "Don't know, son."

Pondering his thoughts again, a short while later, the boy asks "Why is the sky blue?"

Again, his dad replied. "Don't know, son."

The inquisitive boy, worried he was annoying his father, asks this time "Dad, do you mind that I'm asking you all of these questions?"

"Of course not son." replied his dad, "How else are you ever going to learn anything?"

I will suggest you to do research on:-

1. Water harvesting in small towns and villages.

2. Stopping water evaporation of the ponds in villages.

3. Cheaper solar A.C.

4. Drip irrigation in agriculture.

You may select any one of them as per your choice.

Dear Mr.360shudugal,

you have not indicated your field of intrest, since Mechanical Engg. is a very big ocean.

My suggestion would be Diesel Engines- Direct Fuel Injection, Turbo-Chargers, Combustion of Fuels and Carbon Monoxide control, Gear Box tooth Fatigue etc.

In masters level you will do a specialization such as design, production, industrial engineering, thermal etc. Your project work depends on mainly on your specialization in consultation with your project supervisor. Anything related any energy saving or alternative energy will be very interesting.
