Setting of X and Y Displacement Probes on a Turbine

05/28/2013 4:26 PM

Is it normal protocol to set the displacement probes with the jacking oil on. As it only lifts the rotor by 0.1mm does it really matter?

Can you tell us the acceptable range for the vertical axis value? From that, one might be able to tell whether 0.1mm matters or not.

What does the manual say on the topic?

What did the turbine manufacturer say during the telephone call to their technical helpline?

Hello,

I believe that you mean "X and Y Vibration" probes. Yes, because that's the position of the rotor while in operation and you want to be sure about the gap you adjust on the probes.

Great that is my take on the subject as well but I'm having a hard time making a project manager understand. He's take on it is the shaft would be moving when on jacking oil is on.
