Is there evidence of the technicians having completed training on the topic satisfactorily? If not, then the turbine manufacturer's service specialist needs to be the one to do it.

My Ouija board disagrees with my crystal ball. One tells me that a water leak from a turbine built only in an odd numbered year can be serviced today. The other tells me your technicians do not trust you.

Are you a gambler?

If your techs know how to do it, fine, let them.

But, if this will be their learning experience, I'd get a factory tech in and have your techs watch him and learn how to do it for the next time.

The first person you should ask about this is the manufacturer. They may be warranty issues involved.

Can you get a warranty on a hypothetical (imaginary) plant install?

Sauravbabu's questions get more fanciful as time goes on. Not unlike our old friend Merlé with his mega huge high head turbines.

I often wonder if he ever got the OHT cranes to site without getting them stuck going around corners.

I can feel someone is going to throw rocks at me, just as last time

99% sure what will be the Manufacturer's answer....

But surely they have to look in their agreement (Purchase or contract)-first of all...

I'm curious as to why you're getting water leakage from the shaft sealing labyrinths in the first place. Normally there should be steam whisping out of there. Are there water cooled bearing housings involved? Do you have a sufficient supply of sealing steam going to the seals? Did someone forget to open a drain valve or is this a hydro application and not a steam turbine application.

Is this a hydroelectric (water) turbine, or a steam turbine. Totally different answers may evolve. Consult with manufacturer in the first place, and take their advice. They have been down this road before you.

Why do you need to know this? Just assume that this is a Phase-shift Plasma turbine or other research turbine. If it was one of your well understood turbines the OP could just contact the manufacturer for an informed answer instead of asking a group of strangers for a WAG.
