IEC Versus IEEE

In motor , there are two standards are cross referenced IEC and IEE.

a. Both are internationl standards?

b. which one is superior

If both standards are applied to the same motor, then neither is superior.

In both cases, the "I" stands for "International", so the answer to (a) is "yes."

Some people think that NEMA is superior, even if it is only "national."

IEEE is mostly based on American Practices.

IEC is international.

My preference is for IEC.
