What Would You Do?

10/31/2013 12:27 PM

with your time that you currently spend on CR4 if there was no CR4? before I stumbled across this site I had no idea it even existed. although it isn't necessarily a daily visit for me on many occasions it's a must! I suppose The Price Is Right can survive without my eyeballs besides without me there would be an awful lot of Cavaliers out there that wouldn't be starting.

Well last sunday night instead of being here I gave into the wifes demands and worked on putting new window trim on in the living room.

Short ending is I slipped with the utility knife (Brand new bladed too) while trimming the first piece and cut my right thumb to the bone and about 1/3 of the way across the nail going in from the index finger side.

Lots of blood and shouting followed. I'm gonna get her to start doing her own damn projects herself even if I have to cut a whole finger off next. (Hopefully not mine though)

Another case of the wrong professional doing the job? lol - I understand the idea of saving money, but not at the risk of personal injury, hope you do not retain serious after affects like nerve damage or infections. Take care, sir. we would miss you.

No big deal. I heal unnaturally fast and the band aids were off yesterday. Odds are in a few weeks I won't even have scar.

Last year I had an accident with our dozer while flushing the radiator out and burned the skin off my arm and hand from my elbow to the tip of my thumb. The skin grafting specialist said I had moderate 2nd and 3 degree burns which may need skin grafts in order to heal and fill in right otherwise I would have moderate scarring.

He told me to give it three weeks and then come back and he would start measuring and planning how to graft skin form my leg on to my arm. However when I came back for the three week visit all of my skin had already filled in and the was only minor discoloration where the 3rd degree burns were the deepest and minor scar tissue, which went away after about 6 months.

He said that if he had not seen it himself and had pictures to compare what my arm and hand looked like three weeks earlier to what I looked like then he would have never believed it. He figured I had at least 90% of my nerves had already grown back as well given his initial testing the first time I saw him.

He told me I should be a medical case study or I'm an X-men character!

I've always been an unusually fast healer and I have a whole family full of stories to back it up!

And yes my wife thinks I am an alien too but for other reasons.

Well, with no LynDoor or KrisDel to steal engineering secrets from, the agency I work for would probably have me scan CalTech or MIT for secondary bits of intellectual property.

I cannot remember how I was introduced to this site, but am really glad I found it. I used to go to "answer bag" until they changed the format and basically ruined the site for me. There are of course other forums, but none like this one IMHO. I guess without it I would go back to SUDOKU.

People love to show how smart they are, so they scan the posts for something they know about and post answers. The other reason is to ask for help on topics that need a good answer; hopefully more than just an opinion. I find I get some good answers and some opinions. I usually use this forum as a starting point and from there to researching the topic further on the internet.

I don't know. Go find an anonymous poster forum to harass, I guess.

Either my work PC or my home laptop is on most of the time, so this is a simple diversion for me.

What makes you think I spend time on CR4?

I suppose I would be doing the laundry, dishes, vacuuming and all the other stuff my wife tells me to do while I'm on CR4.

Hassle the nurses during dialysis, maybe watch TV, but CR4 seems to be more entertaining.

Re: What Would You Do?

I have to admit that CR4 is some what addictive.

Sad case really. I'm sitting here now waiting for a new comment or the next batch of new stories.

CR4 for me is entertaining, a way to keep my brain ticking over and a self teaching tool (you really find out what you don't know) in between paying work.

I recently had a 10 month break from CR4 as I was on an away job. No time for CR4, I had my own problems to solve on my own. I hardly touched a computer the whole time. A bit of research as required (I don't really need others to do that for me) and shopping lists emailed to vendors was it. Most communication was either face to face or right up in their face. After work there was drinking, eating, blithering and sleeping. Often just skipping straight to sleeping.

So, what would I do without CR4? More work perhaps?

I've had a month doing mostly nothing except CR4ing since I came home. (although it took me about 2weeks before I could be bothered to turn on my computer... the back log of emails took some clearing when I finally steeled myself to do so)

I figure a month break after a physically demanding project is OK. I still ache all over and there's loads to get on with at home.... the things I abandoned when I scored the away gig and the new things that have piled up as well.

Slowly, slowly now......

I look at CR4 maybe once a month or so. When I do come here I mostly look for interesting topics, but I don't post comments or answers unless I believe I can make a worthwhile contribution. I try to avoid posting opinions as facts or showing off. I try not to spend too much time on forum sites because they can waste too much time. Essentially this is break time for me. But if I'm not here and have break time there are other forums that also interest me, or I surf around looking up information.
