IBR Material Duplex Grade

I have a heat exchanger under IBR and Material of construction is DUPLEX STEEL S31803. due to the small quantity we are not able to procure the material from mill. but as per the requirement of IBR for plates FORM 4 is a mandatory requirement. I need to manufacture this Heat exchanger in France. please help for suggestion where i can get the approval for material if i have to go to Stockist.

Simple. Pick up the phone and discuss it with the relevant person at the supplier's premises.

If the stockist can't certify the material, go to your customer and confess.

You need an authorization to deviate from the specification, or you need to purchase the correct material.

These are issues that should have been resolved BEFORE you took on the project.

You may have to pay for certification.

I am the customer and i cannot deviate from the specs. as this is a statutary requirement i need to offer for FORM 4 of IBR. Is there any way out.

Dear Mr. nkpushkarna,

Under the circumstances, explained by you, you can TRY a BETTER or High grade IBR material, in which Statutory Authority will not deny for accepting. Of course, the cost involved will be higher and it is one way out.

A similar situation like your, has been managed by using next higher grade material which is also under IBR.

Conduct required mechanical and chemical test on duplex pipe& plate material available with stockists as per project specification. If it passes the test, you can convince IBR or any other agency.

Yes, you are right. But also he need to check ASME SA-182 (F51), SA-240, SA-798, SA-790, SA-815

ASTM A182 (F51),A240, A276, A479, A789, A790, A815, A928, A988 SAE J405
For requiere additional test.
