Option to Delete a Posting

Hello Admin,

We should have a way for ourselves by which we can delete our posted message anytime we wish to delete it. I have seen such facility on facebook. Why can't it be here?

It's the only ones that you can't delete that get posted. I agree, we should have the option, but there again we can't get pass comments that we do try post, that end up getting lost in cyber-space, just ask Lyn.

You can edit out all of the content, if you do it within the 15 minute editing time, but being able to delete posts at any time would lead to problems.

At the least, it could render threads impossible to follow; at worst, the same types that run around stamping everything with OTs, would intentionally start arguments, then go back and delete everything they posted, essentially setting up other members to look like the a**hole.

I stay away from discussions where hundreds of people strangers all "know" they are right.

This is pretty much it for me...maybe an occasional FB rant.

Dear Mr.Shyam,

Your Suggestion is Good One. Till the CR4 Admin clears, we can use an option with in 3 days - that the Post- indicating the Number BE TREATED AS CANCELLED.

But the option for 3 days ALSO BE EXTENDED, for which CR4 Admin, can decide, to extend this duration, since I found few times, the DISCUSSION IS CLOSED.

Let us see the suggestions from other CR4 Members and Finally What CR4 Admin decides.

Presumably one could report your own reply to administration and ask for a deletion. A brief explanation in the report why you wish to remove your own words would probably be a good idea. I dislike the idea that people can self delete a reply. If a mistake is made, one can always self reply with a correction or apology.

That's facebook only place you find a discussion and can't see how it got there because someone removed their post that all the replies are to.

Some of these guys go to left field(off topic) with their post as it is. Now you want the ability to retract a comment. To leave content of the replies to that comment. So everyone is lost to how the topic got there in the first place.

Okay as long as the deletion leaves your avatar with a post that says chickened out. Maybe a tally along side good posts on that too.

Why would you want this facility on CR4 really?

I can see far more problems and open-for-abuse issues this would cause than any benefits. For example removing posts could make following the forum thread more difficult to follow or allow people to post abusing comments and then delete the evidence later.

Also, bare in mind this is a completely open internet forum not a personal account like facebook which is under your direct control.
