Pressure Sensitive Low Voltage Switch

02/03/2014 9:21 AM

I am looking for a pressure sensitive switch. Smallest I can find. Let's say {Switching}Volts 200VDC 0.5 Amps {Carry} 10vA 1.5 = when pressure is put on the switch it closes & when pressure is released it opens. not a plunger. Something flat.

Anyone have any ideas?

What applies the pressure?

Gas, water, finger, air?

Operating environment?

Operating range? On at?/Off at?

Please give clues, we don't like 20 questions.

A low votage switch? To remove hanging chads?

Your heading says "...low voltage... " 200VDC is NOT low voltage!

The 200VDC at 0.5A kills any miniature switch. DC switching at that voltage requires the contacts to separate a significant distance to break the arc at turn-off. You need to use a low voltage at the flat switch to energize a relay or other larger switching device to control the 200V.

For the (low voltage, low current) flat switch, look at those used in remote controls, key fobs, etc.

I think you are looking for force or displacement sensitive, rather than pressure. Some MicroswitchesTM may be able to handle 200VDC, 0.5A.

Not to be a pessimist, but it is helpful to know if you are expecting a pressure increase or decrease on the occasion of the event. And for that matter, consider that once a pressure difference has been detected, is it likely to remain stable in that condition or will enough air bleed off so that is no longer a differerence?

These questions will help characterize the condition you wish to measure or detect so that you can build the device you are thinking about.

Perhaps you could find/make/or borrow a manometer

to see what really happens.

Yes.

  • There is a tool called Google.
  • There is a tool called RS Components.
  • There is a tool called Farnell.
  • There is a tool called Amazon.
  • etc.

Try some of those, perhaps?
