Cannot Process - Issue

02/21/2014 11:27 PM

A question to the moderator.

Time and time again I get a message cannot process message when trying to submit a post.

Is there a time limit within which a post has to be composed and submitted? Some of the posts I composed took a fair amount of time, hence the above question. Also is it possible to compose/write the post on Word or Notepad/Wordpad and copy the text? I tried this method as well but got a message to say MIME was not right or some thing to that effect. Perhaps I am doing some thing wrong. I am a newbie so any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks/sude

There was recently a problem with posts timing out too quickly, but I think it was resolved.

If you submit a post once, and then accidentally go back a page and try to submit again, you will get the "can't process" message. In that case, the first posting will still have been successful.

With both of those things in mind, try the system again; I think it will work.

It hasn't been resolved for me yet. Just yesterday I got the message after typing four short paragraphs. Fortunately, I've gotten used to it, and I had already copied the reply before I submitted it, so I went back to the original post and replied again, pasting the contents.

This has been going on for something like half a year...

When you get the "can't process" message, just go back one step in your browser, copy the message and paste it into a new window. So, you are posting into a new thread window.

Dear Mr.sude,

This question was raised about 6 weeks back. You can search in te CR4 FORUM and read various views posted by CR 4 Members.

Yes. To my knowledge, thee is a time limit. With in the time limit your posting to be submitted.

If you get the "CANNOT PROCESS" indication, pl. note/do the following.

1.Try to to submit with in 2 Minutes and 30 Seconds. You will get through.

Second point is some times the Internet Connection gets disconnected instantly. If so you will get "CANNOT PROCESS" Message. Hence take note of this also.

2. Alternatively, type your comment/posting in the Word Doc. and copy and go back to CR4, open the REPLY and paste it. This is what I do.

3. Next Alternate, in case of you are directly typing in the REPLY, before submitting - copy the Text you typed and then SUBMIT. If "CANNOT PROCESS" appears, pl. go back and re-open the link, click REPLY and PASTE, and this will take less than 40 Seconds.

At the same time pl. ensure the InterNet connectivity is available and NOT closed.

You have the option to edit with in 15 Minutes and re-submit. For copying in the Reply Link itself, selec and right click, go to EDIT at the top Navigation Bar and copy. For pasting also you have to go to Navigation Bar and paste. You woll not get COPY/PASTE option while you right click, necessarily you have to go to EDIT.

Pl. try and post the information, whether you are able to post successfully.

"1.Try to to submit with in 2 Minutes and 30 Seconds."

You must read, think, and type waaaaay faster than I do.

2 Minutes and 30 Seconds has probably already passed since I pressed the "Reply" button at the end of your message.

Any reply that I can compose and submit within that time frame is probably not worth reading.

Thank you all for your ready responses. I will try what is explained in my next post if it is a long one. I note many others too have had this same problem (in different threads) with many solutions posted.

So sorry I started another thread with the same subject matter.

My posts tend to take quite a while to compose, looking up included figures, maybe making a sketch, scan and crop it, etc. CR4 used to allow me the time to do this, but now they don't. When I've finished reviewing and editing, I copy my entire post to the clipboard and then paste it into a new reply. I prefer editing in the CR4 window to editing in Word or some other editor, because I like the easy super- and sub-scripting buttons, the special character table, adding links and figures, etc.

Thank you all for the valuable tips and advice. I have successfully resolved the issue by first writing it up on Word, then open up a reply window and copy from the WP to CR4. Worked well.

My last post to the thread "AVR for 100 KVA Alternator" was one full A4 page and took me quit a while to write up, but was able to post it without a problem by the above method. I hope this info will be useful to another person.

sude-

There is a time limit of a couple of minutes. My way of getting around it is to compose the reply in Microsoft Word. Spell check it because the MS Word spell checker is far superior to the CR4 spell checker. Get a fresh blank "reply to forum" for the comment you are replying to, highlight and drag the completed MS Word reply, and finally enjoy your handy work.

Next, preview your comment and then the submit message boxes, If all is OK, submit your reply.

This may sound like a long process but it is actually short and simple. What this does is compose it better in MS Word, a far better word processor than the CR4 function, and then by dragging the completed reply to the "reply to forum", the timer doesn't start until you open that part of the sequence.

This reply was handled this way. It took over 15 minutes to complete it due to delays around the office. CR4 took it on the first try.

Good Luck, Old Salt
