Problem of Foam in Liquid Line

02/22/2014 3:01 AM

We are manufacturing Liquid Hand Wash product. When we transfer bulk from manufacturing tank to filling tank (through centrifugal pump), bulk get foamy. Due to this filling mc create problem and also bottle get wet.

Can any one help? Or facing similar problem. I know gravity force transfer can minimize the problem, but we don't have the facility.

Use a positive displacement pump.

Or, a surfactant.

If these terms are foreign to you, seek professional help.

I have impressed by the line " If these terms are foreign to you, seek professional help".

Thanks a TON.

Changing over to a screw type or hydraulic pump should fix it.

Foam comes from a combination of agitation and air introduction. That's what needs to be stopped.

Bottle get wet?

How about a funnel?

Too much shear. A positive displacement pump such as a diaphragm pump will help.

Since the liquid is, by nature, intended to produce foam, you must purge the pipeline and the pump chamber from any air. Then extende the discharge end of the pipe right down into the fillig tank to reduce surface agitation while filling. (I think that the same principle will apply at the bottle filling stage).

There's a problem like that in the Black Butte Porter tap at my local watering hole, but I don't think it is pump-related...
