Bases of P-T Rating

Could you please throw some light on bases of P-T rating as determined by the method provided in ASME B16.5.

It has something to do with the maximum permissible stress, which is a function of temperature. The pressure rating is a function of the thickness at that temperature.

Right that P-T rating is a function of Temperature but the query is...

What is the bases of Tables provided for P-T rating in ASME B16.5
